BUHARI’S TRACK RECORD SHOWS HE IS BETTER THAN ALL THE DUMB AND CLUELESS PHD HOLDERS OF PDP MERGED OR MASHED TOGETHER!

BUHARI'S TRACK RECORD SHOWS HE IS BETTER THAN ALL PROFESSOR OLADIPOS OF PDP MERGED OR MASHED TOGETHER!

This is the ICT generation that is largely ignorant about the events of the Buhari era (1983-85) and so can be misinformed and misled by needless propaganda.

I have sat with many in the under-30 bracket and those slightly above who only have faint recollections of the Buhari era and the level of ignorance about that era is amazing.

Before being MILITARY Head of State, Buhari had been Governor of one of the Northern States (under Obasanjo’s Military government) as well as Minister for Petroleum. He later served as Chairman of PTF under Abacha.

Please consider the following unassailable facts: –

-He birthed and supervised the establishment of our existing refineries.

– There was no religious crisis while he was Head of State. It started under his successor IBB!

– In his time as Head of State he reduced inflation from 23% to 4%, by fiscal discipline and a homegrown economic team (not achieved under any other era, even military).

– JJ Rawlings of Ghana took over 2 years before him, and killed all the corrupt leaders, while Buhari only sentenced the corrupt leaders here to prison.

– Under his watch as PTF Chairman, what he did in road construction in that short period hasn’t been matched by 12 years of the PDP.

– Hospitals and universities around the country never witnessed as much benefits as they got from the PTF from any government after or before his time.

– Despite serving in senior capacity in the oil sector, first as Minister for Petroleum and then Petroleum Trust Fund, Buhari has no petrol station, much less a rig, refinery or an oil block like so many of our leaders.

– He could have retired into nauseating opulence like an IBB or Danjuma or even OBJ but didn’t.

– Instead of hobnobbing with the high and mighty, he has cast his lot with the ordinary man most of who follow him out of hope and belief in his values.People who know him have said of him… “All I need from Buhari is his word, I can take it to the bank”.

– He is the only politician in the North today who fills rallies without renting a crowd. The Kaduna rally of 2nd March is eloquent proof.

– He refused to collect an allowance while serving as Chairman of the PTF because he said since he was already drawing a pension from government, his conscience would not allow him to draw another salary from the purse of the same government.

– He is the only former head of state that does not own property or land in Abuja. – Every attempt to rubbish him through probes in time past ended up vindicating him! The man who was asked by OBJ to take over the running of PTF before it was scrapped with the aim of probing and indicting Buhari, was the one who ended up being prosecuted for misappropriating $100m of PTF funds! Buhari again, was vindicated

– He has OPENLY challenged those who accuse him of religious fundamentalism to come out and show proof. No one has till today, taken up the challenge. His personal driver of many years is a Christian from Plateau State.

– His government initiated the War Against Indiscipline that has made environmental cleanliness, queuing up, not urinating by the roadside etc features of our national life even till today Does it then surprise you why corrupt people would be spreading such heinous rumors about Buhari? He is a threat to them and they know what he is capable of doing to corruption and corrupt people when he comes into office! So shine your eyes and make the right decision. If honesty and probity are the things you want for Nigeria ,now is the time to choose right. When you cast your vote for BUHARI, you would have cast one vote for a honest man. Now that you know better, will you please educate another person

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BY GHANA…NIGERIANS REACT ANGRILY…”WHO IS GHANA? IS THAT NOT THE COUNTRY WHOSE CAPITAL IS LIKE CALABAR?”

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BY GHANA...NIGERIANS REACT ANGRILY..."WHO IS GHANA? IS THAT NOT THE COUNTRY WHOSE CAPITAL IS LIKE CALABAR?"

Knocks for Ghanaian President over energy proposal to Nigeria

The Ghanaian President, Mr. John Mahama, recently disclosed his country’s intention to supply electricity to Nigeria, but his comments have continued to generate diverse reactions from Nigerians.

Mahama’s comments at the Africa Global Business and Economic Forum in Dubai, coincided with Nigeria’s Independence Day, October 1. His comments also seem to have angered many citizens of Nigeria, who felt insulted by Ghana’s ambition to supply power to Nigeria in future.

Nigeria, the world’s most populous black nation, is often called the giant of Africa, a position that was further strengthened by a recent rebasement exercise that made the country’s economy the largest in Africa, ahead of South Africa’s.

But while South Africa generates about 45,000 MW of electricity, Nigeria only generates about 4,000MW.

According to Mahama, his government had made huge investments in power generation that would enable the country to export excess electricity to Nigeria and others.

“We have given priority to electricity generation in our country. We have prioritised energy in such a way that we want to become the hub for power production in West Africa. We want to generate electricity to the point that excess power can be exported to Nigeria, Ivory Coast and other countries that have power deficit,” he said.

In addition, Mahama said his country had secured export-import financing from China and special funds from Abu Dhabi to start series of power generation projects. The Ghanaian President added that a third hydropower dam project was already at an advanced stage in his country.

Meanwhile, some respondents who spoke to Power Talkback, described Mahama’s comments as boastful.

A resident of Ibadan, Oyo State, Daniel Adewunmi, expressed surprise by Mahama’s comments, saying Ghana lacks the capability to supply power to Nigeria now and in the nearest future.

“I wonder why the Ghanaian President made the statement because the last time I was in Ghana, there were power outages, so I don’t understand the rationale behind his confidence. Power supply is irregular in Nigeria but if we are going to be importing electricity, it can’t be from Ghana. I know for a fact that West African Gas Pipeline Company in Nigeria supplies gas to Ghana, so what was Mahama talking about?” He asked.

A respondent in Lagos, James Okor, also described Mahama’s comments as ridiculous.

Okor said the Ghanaian President was only boasting about what he knew his country could not achieve.

“The man (Mahama) was only trying to make Nigerians feel like Ghana is better, which is as a result of the hype many Nigerians have given to Ghana. He probably hears about how Nigerians make disparaging remarks about their government and the power distribution companies, and then feels the problem is so much that we will need to turn to Ghana for help. But the situation is not so bad for us that we will turn to Ghana for solutions. Nigeria supplies gas to Ghana to boost its electricity, so how can Ghana be planning to be supplying power to its supplier at the same time?I always laugh when they compare them to Nigeria.A country whose capital is the size of Calabar.Even in neatness Calabar beats it by far.Who is Ghana compared to Nigeria? ” he also asked.

“This is happening because Nigerians have now flooded Ghanaian schools, which has affected the country’s esteem in the eyes of Ghanaians.”

However, another respondent, Mrs. Anjorin, said it doesn’t matter where Nigeria gets power supply from as long as homes get constant electricity.

“Should it matter where Nigeria gets its electricity from if there is constant electricity in our homes?” She said.

A Public Relations consultant with 30 years experience in the energy industry, Mr. Tokunbo Peters, described Ghana’s proposal as ironic.

He said, “We are supplying gas to Ghana through WAGPCo; it’s ironical that we are supplying gas to Ghana and Ghana is proposing supplying Nigeria with electric power. This is really an irony because the local power plants in Nigeria are always complaining of inadequacy of gas. Their major complaint is that they don’t have adequate gas to generate power. For instance, the two power plants at Olorunsogo close to Papalanto, Ogun State, since commissioning, have been producing below the installed capacity and the major complaint has been inadequate gas.

“So it’s really ironical that the same Ghana that we have been supplying gas to through WAGPCo is proposing to supply us with electricity. We have plants in Nigeria that require gas which are not getting gas, so our problem is not about our installed capacity, our problem is in our inability to provide those plants with sufficient gas to produce to their installed capacity. This administration has commissioned more plants than any other one but the problem is that they are not getting the gas required to generate power for the consuming populace.”

Peters, however, urged the Nigerian government to review its gas exportation policy by first satisfying the local gas consumption before exporting it to neighbouring countries.

He said, “There is a standing agreement between Nigeria and its neighbours on the supply of gas through WAGPCo, but Irrespective of that, we should satisfy local consumption first and foremost. There is an African adage that says that ‘you don’t leave fire burning in your house and assist your neighbour to quench fire. We cannot be crying about insufficiency of gas and at the same time be exporting gas to Ghana and other West African neighbours. My opinion is that we should take care of the local consumption first and after that we can begin to satisfy our West African neighbours.

“Are you aware that not too long ago, in the first quarter of this year, we were unable to supply gas to Ghana because of some vandalised pipelines and they had to start rationing power? If the same Ghana could ration power, then they could continue to ration while we satisfy our local consumption. When we do that, we can export the finished product to them rather than Ghana proposing exporting the finished product to us. Ghana’s proposal to supply electricity to us is similar to the practice of exporting crude oil to Europe and importing the finished products from them.

“If we give enough gas to the local plants, it means more power will be generated locally, more jobs will be created, goods and services will be delivered at cheaper rates, companies will spend less hours burning generators, companies will use public power supply to produce goods and that will translate into drop in the prices of goods. It’s simple economics.”

IS IT TRUE GHANAIANS WANT TO STONE MEMBERS OF THE BLACK STARS TEAM IF OR WHEN THEY LAND IN ACCRA?

Ghana’s Loss To Portugal – The Inside Story: Many Ghanaians Were Supporting Portugal

IS IT TRUE GHANAIANS WANT TO STONE MEMBERS OF THE BLACK STARS TEAM IF OR WHEN THEY LAND IN ACCRA?

…Boateng and Muntari…could the presence of Boateng have turned things around?

Ghana’s Black Stars are finally out of the FIFA World Cup following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Portugal. The team’s exit however does not seem to carry the usual disappointment it normally does when they come crashing out of a tournament. According to Bright Kankam Boadu, a respected Ghanaian sports journalist, some Ghanaians were actually rooting for the Portuguese team during the game.

“You’ll be very much surprised to learn that there were a lot of Ghanaians who were supporting Portugal to win because of what was happening at the camp”

Mr. Kankam Boadu says this is as a result of a myriad of factors, chief among them the incident in the Black Stars camp that saw the repelling of Sulley Ali Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng as well as the players insistence to be paid $100,000 each before honoring the final Group G game against Portugal.

The team was bedeviled with a series of problems starting with a report by the UK newspaper, Daily Telegraph purporting that the FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi and some other officials were involved in an abortive deal to fix matches in which the Black Stars were to play. Following that, there was an incident where the players boycotted training and refused to board the flight to Brasilia to play the game against Portugal unless they were paid an appearance fee of $100,000 in hard cash. It took the intervention of President John Mahama and a subsequent airlifting of $3million to Brazil to pay the players for them to honor the game. According to Kankam Boadu, this is what really infuriated Ghanaians to withdraw their support for the Black Stars.

“Most Ghanaians are very angry with the team and I’m sure if the team should touch down in Ghana, it would probably take the intervention of the military or the police to stop them” he said.

Kankam-Boadu said at a time when Polytechnic lecturers are on strike and utility tarrifs are about to be increased, Ghanaians found it unacceptable that the team should hold the nation to ransom. “I’m sure you read about it, you’ve heard about it; the kind of hardships that Ghanaians are going through, the energy crisis, jobs and all the things and people are wondering players who are supposed to play because of the flag are demanding monies to be paid to them before they don the national colors”. He said Ghanaians saw this attitude as unpatriotic and thus decided to withdraw their support from the team.

Kankam Boadu who was in the Black Stars camp in Brazil at a point also added that the team did not play well because they had other things apart from football on their minds.

He refuted the notion making the rounds that the players had not been paid their bonuses, leading to them staging the strike. He said they had actually been paid all their bonuses but they had demanded an appearance fee of $100,000 each instead of the $75,000 promised them by the government and the FA. “The players have been paid every single bonus they are entitled to… the players had demanded that they should be given $100,000 each as appearance fees for playing at the World Cup. The government of Ghana decided that it was too much because the country had a lot of challenges at this very moment.” He said the government offered $75,000 but the players refused the amount and stuck to their guns to boycott the game until the president stepped in and authorized the payment of $100,000 to each player.

He also attributed the Black Stars loss to a serious lack of discipline. “The leadership of the team has totally lost control.” he said, noting that he observed the players refusing to adhere to camp rules, having their wives and girlfriends around and even nightclubbing while in camp.
