1.OBJ’s letter can be divided into two parts.An attack on the personal integrity of GEJ and another on his administration.
2.So far some people probably advised GEJ not to respond directly to look dignified and “presidential”.At the same time some dodgy responses have been coming from presidential aides and so-called “enemies” of OBJ to discredit him.But no serious attempt has been made so far to answer some of the serious accusations contained in his satanic letter.Some of these dodgy responses include but are not limited to those listed below:
a.Name-calling by Abati
b.Dr Kashamu Buruji’s letter.
c.Purported Iyabo Obasanjo’s letter
d.Book written almost 4yrs ago by Mrs Obasanjo
e.Court papers by Olugbenga Obasanjo that obj had sex with his wife.
f.Senator Ameh Ebute’s letter.
3.But does OBJ need to be discredited more than he did by himself? Is there any worse accusation than the one about sleeping with one’s daughter-in-law?So all these crappy responses sponsored by faceless people in the Presidency won’t make GEJ look any better in the eyes of most Nigerians even if they are reminded about OBJ VICES. .They only serve as reminders to what people already know or have heard about OBJ.
4.Now lets look at the White House whose democratic model appealed to us.If a former president like Bush or the GOP had come out yapping like OBJ did would the response have been like its been handled by our Aso Rock?No,definitely not.A dignified immediate response by the White House speaker FOCUSING on the achievements of Obama would have come forth followed by PERSONAL responses to the nation on the spot by Obama on some of the more serious issues contained in the satanic letter.Not all of them but just enough to deny what is known to be false among OBJ accusations.This would have been followed in the new media not by a fake letter on family matters on the adversary like OBJ but a listing of achievements to encourage GEJ faithfuls stay the course.
5.GEJ should then follow it up with an address to the nation on three or 5 most important issues and leave the rest with a promise to Nigerians to answer through a TV parley by senior journalists and broadcasted live to Nigerians.
6.We all know that GEJ is not very charismatic in terms of flowing speeches.This should be highlighted in advance with pointers that Nigerians should focus on facts and figures to be presented and not whether the speech is comparable to that of Mandela or of Obama.OBJ himself never measured even by half to these great men in terms of speeches.
7.After the t.v parley has been fully publicized GEJ should then come out swinging but with four major objectives:
a.Denials of what is false or corrections of what is falsely stated by OBJ, Tambuwal or APC and the state of what is being done about certain matters which cannot be achieved overnight or without reference to party decorum.
b.Focus on what GEJ has achieved so far and what still needs to be done and can be done if there were no distractions from within PDP itself.The emphasis and more time should be spent on where he intends to lead Nigeria to with another special appeal to Nigerians to tell his adversaries its time to allow him continue the work he was elected for like improving power supply.Each question asked must be answered in such a way as to lead back to his quiet leadership style with purpose which some people are interpreting to mean weakness.
C.He must avoid direct hammering of OBJ ON T.V but should give him some diplomatic kung-fu kicks if the opportunity at any time present itself without allowing that become the focus of the parley.
D. If he is clean and means business, he must tell Nigerians both friends and foes whether he will contest in 2015 or not. And if he intends to he must link his reasons back to what he still hopes to do for Nigerians.He must make a direct appeal to all Nigerians especially in the North and south-west who voted for him last time to stay the course.He must tell the Ijaws to vote for whomever they want.And if they decide it is him it should not just be because he is part of them but that they should take decisions based on real and solid achievement and progress brought to their lives since he came on.
8.Follow-up adverts on social media,press and perhaps billboards should then follow to show his seriousness about these objectives.
