A Customary Court at Igando, near Lagos on Wednesday dissolved the marriage of one Ganiyat Falana, 37, because of adultery. Ganiyat and Dare Falana were until the dissolution of the union, married for 15 years. Delivering judgment, the President of the court, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, said he was convinced that the couple could no longer live together as the petitioner had insisted on divorce after several interventions.
“The court has no choice than to dissolve the union; in spite of the fact that the wife still claims she loves her husband.
“The court pronounced the marriage between Dare Falana and Ganiyat Falana dissolved today, both parties, henceforth; cease to be husband and wife,” Omilola ruled. Dare, 40, a businessman, had approached the court, seeking the dissolution of the marriage because of infidelity and threats to his life.
The estranged man, who described his wife as adulterous, claimed to have caught her with a man friend in his room chatting and eating. “I came back home to pick something in the morning and I met my wife with her lover inside our room eating food bought from an eatery. “My wife is always threatening my life with dangerous weapons as she chased me with knife in our street to stab me.
“She is a good fighter. Her hobby is fighting. I have on at least five occasions bailed her at the police station. “She fights with friends, neighbors, even in the church and I had to leave that church for her because of this shameful act,” said Dare. Ganiyat, however, described Dare as fetish, claiming that he had killed the foetus in her womb. “He gave me Suya to eat when I was eight months pregnant and the baby in my womb started to breath faster, I rushed to the hospital but delivered a still birth,” she said.
Ganiyat, a mother of three, who did not object to the dissolution, told court that her husband was fetish. “I saw my bra inside my husband’s brief case, I queried him but he said he wanted to take it to his church for prayers. “He also brought a handkerchief home and gave it to me to clean my private part and return to him but I refused.
“He has been bringing home different types of soup and other liquids for me to drink which I also refused because I do not trust him.” “Apart from his fetish nature, he has also turned me to a punching bag.’’ She said that her husband had always blamed her for his predicaments.

Sex pest woman beats up husband

A VICTORIA Falls man has dragged his wife to the Civil Court seeking a protection order claiming she always wants sex and beats him up for saying no. Mthokozisi Mangena, 46, of Chinotimba suburb told Victoria Falls resident magistrate Sharon Rosemani yesterday that his wife Precious Moyo, age not given, had an abnormally high sex-drive.

He said Moyo constantly verbally, physically and sexually harasses him. Mangena said the woman had literally turned their matrimonial home into a living hell, and he couldn’t stand it as she demands sex anytime and turns violent if he doesn’t sleep with her.

“I’m appealing to this court to stop the respondent from abusing me. She does whatever pleases her and abuses me anyhow,” he said. “She has been harassing me for a long time and I’m no longer living in peace. Initially I thought she would stop her abusive behaviour but it has continued for a long time as she insults me, beats me up and sometimes forces me into sex.”

Added Mangena in the application for a protection order: “Sometimes I’ll be too tired to have sex and she’ll get violent and insult me saying I’m useless while threatening to leave me.”

Mangena said his wife beats him for refusing to have sex and sometimes embarrasses him in public. Moyo is a security guard. She denied abusing her husband, although she admitted they usually fight. “I’m not happy with the way my husband behaves but I’ve never abused him.

“In fact I don’t remember either beating or insulting him although we fight here and there,” Moyo said while responding to the application. The magistrate granted the protection order and ordered Moyo to desist from abusing her husband verbally, physically or sexually.

A WOMAN who tried to crush her husband’s genitals with a stone is lucky to have escaped jail after her husband pleaded with the court to release her.

Victoria Falls magistrate Sharon Rosemani sentenced Samantha Dube, 25, of Chinotimba Township to perform 140 hours of community service.

Dube attacked her husband Dennis Mazarira, 38, who teaches at AD Junior Private School in the resort town, accusing him of cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend.

Prosecuting Takunda Ndovorwi told the court that Dube and Mazarira were drinking beer with the complainant’s elder brother at the couple’s matrimonial home.

“On July 2 at around 11PM while at their house in Chinotimba, the accused struck her husband with an electrical iron twice on the head before hitting him with a stone on his private parts,” said Ndovorwi.

The matter was immediately REPORTED to the police leading to Dube’s arrest while Mazarira was referred to hospital.

A medical REPORT that was produced in court showed that Mazarira sustained swollen genitals and a cut on the head.

The name of the woman Mazarira allegedly cheated on his wife with was not given in court.
