A grief-stricken groom has been made a widower in less than a day after he found his new bride dead in bed the morning after their wedding.
Newly-wed Mariola Michalowski, 38, died in her sleep just hours after she married her 32-year-old husband Krzysztof, known as Kris by his friends and family.
The couple, originally from Poland, had two young children together, and had only finished celebrating at their wedding reception hours before Mrs Michalowski’s untimely death.
Following the tragedy, well-wishers have donated more than £6,000 to Mr Michalowski to help him meet the costs of paying for the wedding and his wife’s funeral.Devastated groom Krzystof Michalowski who woke up the day after his Friday the 13th wedding to find his bride Mariola lying dead in bed next to him.

Mrs Michalowski had a history of epilepsy, although the cause of her death, last Friday, is not yet known.
Her husband is understood to have found her in bed at their home in Richmond, North Yorkshire, after leaving the room briefly to feed their baby.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police confirmed that officers had been informed, adding that there were no suspicious circumstances in the case.
Mr Michalowski, who has lived in the UK for more than ten years, is an employee at paving and rural landscaping company Oakdale Ltd, based in Catterick.
Michael Jonas, managing director of the company, who attended the wedding, said Mr Michalowski was a well-liked member of staff and colleagues had been left devastated on hearing the news.
“Kris is a great lad. He’s worked his way from the shop floor to the office. We’ve watched him grow as a person and were delighted when he got engaged,” he said.
“At their wedding reception it was clear that Kris and Mariola were very much in love. The two children are going to grow up never knowing their mother.
“It’s a sad irony that they got married in Richmond registry office and Kris was back a couple of days later to register the death.”
In a gesture of good will, Mr Jonas has launched an online appeal to help raise £8,000 to help Mr Michalowski pay for the costs of the funeral.
Posting on the fundraising page, he wrote: “Friday 13th May 2016 was to be one of the happiest days of Mariola’s life.
“Later that night, after the celebrations were over, Mariola went to bed and fell asleep never to awake again.
“The brutal reality is that Kris has to burry his bride, she lived one day and one night as his wife.
“Its difficult to comprehend the saddest of ironies, revisiting the same Register Office, on the first occasion to celebrate your marriage and a few days later to record your wife’s death.”
Dozens of messages of condolence have been left for the family, including one which read: “So sad that your beautiful wife and the mother of your adorable children has been taken away Kris. So heart wrenching, so sorry for your loss.”
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: “We were called to reports of the sudden death of a 38-year-old woman at 8.52 am on the May 14.
“Enquiries were carried out at the address and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. “A report is being prepared for the coroner.”
