The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje has accused his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Mr. Akin Ambode of lacking requisite experience in governance
He based his assertion on the fact that the local government system where Ambode worked for about twenty years is a mockery of government.
Agbaje reasoned that having been part of a failed system, for about two decades out of his 27 years experience in government, the APC Candidate could be said to have experience deficit.
Specifically he said the parlous state of the local government system in Lagos state was responsible for the lack of impact on the lives of the people at the grass root level.
He said the ruling APC should carry a major part of the blame for local government failure for turning the institution into a political apparatus for advancing the interest of the party, rather than for development purposes.
According to a statement by the PDP governorship candidate’s directorate of media and publicity, Agbaje blamed the poor condition of areas like Ajegunle and makoko in Ajeromi-Ifelodun and mainland local governments for this development.
Speaking in the areas on Friday, he noted that several years after obtaining a Ten Billion Dollars Loan for slum development, nothing has been done to change the face of slum areas in the state.
He opined that this shows the deep hatred the APC has for the poor people in the state, despite available resources.
He however promised to assuage the sufferings of the people by redressing the injustices done to them over the years.
Agbaje noted that this could only be actualized by voting out the APC and voting overwhelmingly for the PDP at all levels
He assured them that government has put in place the necessary measures to nip rigging in the bud, urging them to monitor their votes.
“Let me also charge those of you that have not collected your PVCs to do so at your registration centers. Also ensure that you wait behind so that your votes are not manipulated. If you do this, victory is assured” he declared.
