Boko Haram: #BringBackOurGirls to Write Chadian President
Jonathan and Idriss Deby, linked to Boko Haram
There are ongoing plans by the #BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, Abuja Family, to write President of Chad, H.E. Idriss Deby, through the Embassy of Chad in Nigeria, over his role in the peace deal between the Boko Haram sect and the Nigerian government.
BBOG in a statement in Abuja, signed by the leaders of the group, Mrs. Obiageli Ezekwesili, Mrs, Hadiza Bala Usman, Mrs. Maryam Uwais and Saudatu Mahdi lamented the cold response of the Ambassador of Chad to Nigeria, Mr. Isah Braimah, to the issues bothering on the status of the negotiations to release the Chibok girls.
DAILY POST reports that members of the BBOG, recently matched to Chadian embassy in Abuja, with placards, asking the Chadian government to explain its roles in the crisis in the North-East and the abduction of the Chibok girls.
The statement reads, “Not satisfied with the response of the Ambassador of Chad to crucial questions bordering on the status of the negotiations to release the Chibok girls, purportedly brokered by the Chadian Government, including the whereabouts of the girls and various media reports suggesting that some of the girls might actually be in Chad, the BringBackOurGirls Abuja Family, has resolved to write to the President of Chad, H.E. President Idriss Deby, through the Embassy of Chad in Nigeria, in order to ascertain responses to the sundry questions that remain unanswered.
“As ECOWAS Citizens, we rely on the provisions of the ECOWAS treaty, particularly Chapter 10, Article 58: 1, which states that ‘Member States undertake to work to safeguard and consolidate relations conducive to the maintenance of peace, stability and security within the region’ and Chapter 11, Article 63: 1 ‘Member States undertake to formulate, harmonise, co-ordinate and establish appropriate policies and mechanisms, for enhancement of the economic, social and cultural conditions of women”.
These provisions in the ECOWAS treaty strengthen our believe that our neighboring countries of Chad, Niger, Benin owe our Chibok girls an obligation to fully collaborate with our government in their rescue activities.
“The Abuja BringBackOurGirls Family is determined to continue to mount pressure on the Nigerian Government and other relevant stakeholders to prioritise the rescue of the 219 Chibok girls, as well as all other Nigerians abducted by the Boko Haram insurgents”.
It added that, “The Abuja family also intends to take all legitimate steps, within their capacity, to bring to an end the ongoing insurgency, which has claimed numerous lives and disrupted societal cohesion, especially in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.
“We shall not cease to mobilize our citizens to compel the FG to take adequate steps to end the ongoing insurgency, which has claimed numerous lives and disrupted societal cohesion in Nigeria, especially the North East”.
Only fools can believe the Chadian envoy and what he said below
Chad Protests; Claims It Is Not French Puppet And Boko Haram Sponsor
The Ambassador of the Republic of Chad to Nigeria, Ambassador Issa Brahim, yesterday protested against allegation that his country is behind Boko Haram insurgency ravaging some parts of the country.
The envoy was protesting against a comment credited to former head of state retired General Muhammadu Buhari and an opinion piece titled ‘Boko Haram: Time for inquest into Chad’s role” by Muhammad Al-Ghazali published by Daily Trust on November 25. According to him, “I believe General Buhari is a knowledgeable person who should understand better for him to venture into this kind of allegation. Chad has nothing to do with the Boko Haram.”
He added that his country is only trying to help Nigeria fight the insurgency and does not expect anybody to be pointing accusing finger at them.
While tracing the history of Chad from inception, the ambassador said despite the fact that his country was colonised by France, it has always resisted invasion in any part of Africa.
He added that Northern region of Chad has always been under military administration which shows that Chad has never accepted French domination.
“Far from being a puppet of France, Chadian government is concerned with the principle of freedom in Africa which is demonstrated in some parts of the continent by resisting invasion on them,” he added.
The envoy therefore called on the writer of the opinion to have retrospect into Chad’s history before writing on the country and to review what he wrote regarding it.
