  1. The approach and strategy used in enforcing donations constantly will not be considered suitable in the Western world where people love pleasure more than lovers of God. In those places people SACRIFICE so do without to give to God to build the church up. Tithing is taken extremely seriously with offerings and donations which will be causing untold SUFFERING in the West. People are told in the West fasting is not healthy but these churces fast 40 days and save to give and pray seriously to God in Jesus Name. The Powerful concept of community is very strong so building up the church means building up own community and people for the better. That is how they raise funds because there is state welfare provisions people come together to create wealth and provide support for each other, build schools, hospitals, universities, etc

  3. “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.” (Matt 2:13)

You didn’t travel miles over a long period of time in order to find a king and then turn up with a 10 carat baby ring and a couple 3 oz vials of frankincense and myrrh. That would have been insulting. What Jesus received was very expensive and invaluable in its day and no doubt it was much more than a small sample.

Material wealth is not new or strange to people of God. Some of the folk we most revere in the scriptures were very wealthy – Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Boaz, David, Solomon, just to name a few. Elijah asked a poor widow to give him her last meal, Jesus benefited from the wealth of Joseph of Arimathaea. Cornelius the centurion was very well off.

We shouldn’t evaluate Pastors unkindly because of their wealth, especially when we acknowledge the size of their congregations and the fact that the write and publish books, produce movies etc. In the secular world we Christians would call that ‘work’ and conclude that persons such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, The Koch Bros, Jaime Dimon, Oprah Wimphrey, Peyton Manning and Miley Cyrus deserve their keep,

I am not saying Christians should be ostentatious with wealth but the real issue for all of us is not how much we have but how we relate to money. How is it obtained? What place does it have in our lives?

Do you really want to put a $1.7m house up against what the Queen of Sheba gave the world’s richest man just to get an appointment?

Also, anyone checking how much these ministers and their ministries give away materially and otherwise?
