Here is the full story…

1.Lagosbooksclub.com(LBC) is not the same as lagosbooksclub.wordpress.com(LBCWC) though they belong to the same source – EDUPEDIA ASSOCIATES

2.LBC is not hosted by WordPress but by Hostgator.For hosting LBC we paid Hostgator twice to cover 12 months of services but refused to pay the third time because of many unresolved issues with the site.

3.We refused because it was supposed to be our commercial site. But despite the high-rate daily traffic there was really no discussion or comment to be found on the blog.We checked visitors bounce rate and discovered that it was low.This meant many of the visitors were spending lots of time on the blog and the average rate of pages per visitor was close to 2.

4.On the other hand comments on LBCWC come on each day and the site gives us lots of opportunity to interact with our readers.

5.Apart from the low level of comments the LBC site used to be turned off at will by Hostgator because we were said to be on a shared server.When we registered with them the column from which we chose the plan we paid for had “UNLIMITED” for every line.THIS WAS APART FROM FORCING US TO PAY FOR A USELESS SERVICE FOR 12 MONTHS CALLED SITELOCK.

6.When we complained to HOSTGATOR about the NO COMMENTS problem they told us that it could be from the web theme we were using.We followed their suggestion by using many themes and installing different comment plug-ins…all to no avail.The long and short of it all was little or no interaction with readers/customers for almost 12 months.THE BUSINESSES WE DID WERE MAINLY THOSE WE SECURED DIRECTLY BY VISITS TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS IN LAGOS OURSELVES.

7.One good thing about Hostgator,however, is their usual prompt attention when called upon.But our major problem was not solved until they asked us to pay the third bill or they would lock up our site and we indicated that they could if they so wished.So what you read when you google LBC is”this account has been suspended” as if we committed some crime.But we did not.

8.What finally helped us decide not to continue with HOSTGATOR also started about 30 days ago when we asked it to check the SEO for LBC to solve its comments problem by default.This requested was tossed around as if it was written in YORUBA language for many weeks until they sent us a mail showing they could not be trusted for genuine SEO services.

9.Yesterday,they sent us a note asking for our opinion on their services and we gave them a piece of our minds.Before doing that we had copied all our past content from LBC and had previously opened a MILE2HERALD blog on WordPress to take over.

10.Finally there is something we need say to WordPress on matters on payments from Nigeria.We at EDUPEDIA prefer to pay for your premium services with our credit cards from Nigeria.What exactly is the reason for not accepting this mode of payment? Is there really any risk involved if such payments are for services yet to be provided?

11.To our readers,please note that LAGOSBOOKSCLUB.COM is our domain and can be used elsewhere as we write if we so wish.Our ownership and use are not suspended.Only its MONEY-SUPPORTED account with Hostgator is suspended BY HOSTGATOR! So LBC shall still come out as LBC hosted by another service provider once we have decided what its aims shall be.

12.For emphasis sake please note that every page and content COVERING MORE THAN 1000 posts of the suspended LBC have been saved on our files and can be accessed or re-posted on this blog or our other blogs if you so wish.And as we say in our country- NOTIN’ SPOIL!.
